JV Coach Aimee Norton
Aimee Norton joined the Swordsmen coaching staff during the summer of 2022. A competitive player in high school, Coach Norton brings enthusiasm, passion, and directness in her coaching approach.

Harbor Springs, Mi. – Some people like sports. Some people are passionate about sports. And some people are born into sports. The latter is certainly the case for Harbor Light Christian School’s newly hired Varsity Volleyball Coach, Hannah (Hewitt) Urman.
“Some people say I started playing volleyball in the womb, as my mom coached here at HLCS while pregnant with me,” commented Urman when asked when she started to love the sport of volleyball. The daughter of Harbor Light coaching legends Clark and Heidi Hewitt, Urman began life as a Swordsman and still bleeds maroon and grey. “There was no question in our minds that HLCS is where we would send our kids. My husband and I both graduated from here and HLCS lays the foundation we want for our kids as we raise them to love and know God. I knew coaching would be in my future and it would be with HLCS.”
A four-year varsity player at Harbor Light, Urman helped lead the Swordsmen to three straight semi-final appearances during her high school career. After graduation, Urman went on to be a three-year starter and captain for the Alma College Scots, where she excelled as a setter, and earned All-MIAA honors. “I have always loved playing volleyball. It’s a fun sport and I am so happy I was able to continue playing in college.”
But like all collegiate athletes, Urman knows that playing at the next level doesn’t just happen. “My parents coached me in volleyball, basketball, and softball in high school. They were actually pretty tough on me and had high expectations. They both taught me to work hard in everything I do and do it for God’s glory. They taught me to set goals and work hard to achieve them. Excelling at a sport is not easy, but takes lots of hard work, determination, and dedication. They were always challenging me to work on my game outside of practice as well, and were always willing to help me put the time in at home.”
And now it is her turn to pass those lessons on to the next generation of Lady Swordsmen. “Coaching is how I get to teach this great game to others and I hope to see the joy and passion in them that I have…My hope for this season is to instill in my players a love for the game of volleyball. I want my players to experience the fun of the game through hard work, teamwork, and dedication. I do want to win, but more importantly, I hope this coming season to have a hard-working team that never gives up. Win or lose, we do it as a team, and God gets the glory every time,” added Urman.
“Hannah exudes confidence, competence, and character,” commented HLCS Athletic Director Josh Ernst. “She knows what she wants to do and knows how she will accomplish it. This is the first hire I’ve made since coming into this position, and I couldn’t have asked for a better pool of candidates and for a better outcome in the process. Our Volleyball program is in excellent hands with Coach Urman.”
As excited as Harbor Light is to have Coach Urman in the fold, she may be even more excited to get started. “I am really looking forward to just being in the gym again. There are so many “feelings” that come back, just walking into the gym, or even just touching a volleyball. I am excited to get to know each of the players and am looking forward to working with them to increase their knowledge of the game so they can create these experiences that will stay with them for years to come!”
That process has already started, as Coach Urman will be coaching the Junior High Volleyball team this winter. And as Harbor Light enters the Solid Rock Center era of Swordsmen Athletics, it certainly seems fitting to have a Hewitt once more patrolling the sidelines.
