Head Coach Josh Ernst

Coach Ernst is entering his third season as Head Coach of the Swordsmen, following two years as an assistant in the program.
Josh attended Central Lake High School where he played Football, Basketball, and Baseball. After graduation, he attended Alma College, where he continued his baseball career.
Josh brings over a decade of baseball coaching experience to the field, having spent time at all ages and levels, including at the elite travel ball level. He has seen former players drafted and many play at the collegiate level. However, the highlight of his coaching career was being part of the 2012 Homewood Hawks run to the 12U World Series, and watching his son play on that stage.
When asked what he enjoys most about coaching baseball, Coach Ernst responded, “I love the game. I love the nuances of the game – the chess match. I love how the game can teach young men how to handle defeat and how to get back up and keep going.”
Coach Ernst is assisted by Chris Ogden, who has been with the program since the 2020 season.
